Practice update 

Surgery Closure

 

The surgery will be closed on Wednesday 19th June from 13:00 for essential staff training.

Our phone lines will be open as normal the following day (Thursday 20/06/2019) from 08:00 with the surgery opening at 08:20.

If you require medical attention at any time when the surgery is closed see below:-

Resources such as NHS Direct or Choose Well provide information including a symptom checker tool and advice on how best to treat your symptoms:

Community Pharmacies are all able to provide confidential advice and in many cases medication for common ailments (A number of these are free under the Choose Pharmacy Scheme). A list of pharmacies and opening times can be found on the Cardiff and Vale Health Board Website at -

The GP Out Of Hours Service operates whilst surgeries are closed. This is for urgent care needs, which cannot safely wait until GP practices re-open. The service can be contacted on 01446 729562.

Accident and Emergency Departments and 999 ambulance services are for immediate life threatening conditions only.

Water Leak

Following the major water leak at West Quay Medical Centre, we are currently unable to open our automated doors at the rear entrance of the surgery.

Please use the main entrance when attending.

Information for young people

What is counselling?

Counselling is a type of talking therapy, where you meet with a qualified counsellor to explore your thoughts and feelings and to develop ways of coping.

Who can see a counsellor?

Anybody can meet with a counsellor. Our counsellor’s work with young people aged 9-19 in the Vale of Glamorgan and can meet with you in your school or in the community.

Reasons young people might meet with a counsellor include: 

  • Family issues
  • Bereavement
  • Depression
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Self-esteem
  • Anxiety

What support is offered?

An initial meeting with a qualified counsellor to find out if counselling is right for you.

Up to six 1-1 sessions to talk through any worries or concerns you might have.
