We work In close partnership with Mind In The Vale Of Glamorgan. We work out of all of the Mind in the Vale of Glamorgan projects in order to deliver our services.

All our Counsellors have either completed a professionally (BACP) accredited (Postgraduate Diploma level) course or are undertaking a professionally (BACP) accredited course. All have membership of the BACP and work within the BACP ethical framework for good practice in counselling.  Counsellors receive regular individual and group supervision in line with BACP guidelines.

Our Counsellors are experienced in working with issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, panic attacks, low self esteem, anger management, bereavement and loss, relationship issues, abuse, phobias, self harming, body image, PTSD and OCD. We also see clients that want counselling to help them understand and cope with their Bipolar Disorder or their Personality Disorder.

TYPES OF COUNSELLING

Our Counsellors are qualified and specialise in various different approaches, including:

  • Integrative Counselling (working with a relational model drawing upon and utilising Psychodynamic, Person-Centred and CBT concepts and therapeutic strategies)
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy
  • Person-Centred Therapy.
  • We also have a Systemic trained Counsellor whose experience and counselling approach can be beneficial for working with some of the family issues our clients are experiencing.

HOW CAN COUNSELLING HELP?

Counselling is a skilled way of helping individuals with personal issues and difficulties. We work with you to help you make sense of your problems and move forward with your life. Counselling offers you a safe and confidential space to express your feelings and thoughts and help you gain a new perspective, identify where you feel stuck, and give you a greater sense of the choices you have in life.

If you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious or depressed, or if you have an issue or situation that seriously affects your day-to-day life and are not sure what to do next, we will help you question the way you look at things, the way you behave or react to situations or people, and help you develop new strategies to cope with situations. We will take the time to get to know you, develop an understanding of your circumstances, listening to what you have to say and offering support and insight. Our main aim will be to help you to help yourself, building your self-confidence.

We recognise that it can be an enormous step for someone to seek counselling and our Counsellors will do all they can to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible and to put you at ease. It can be a great help having this support and will give you the feeling that you are not on your own. A good Counsellor can make such a difference to someone struggling with a particular issue or life in general and help a person to develop their own inner strength. Our team of trained counsellors are warm, empathetic and respectful and will listen to you without judgment.
